Kendra Finck Graduates from Dakota School of Banking
Kendra Finck, Union State Bank’s commercial lender, recently graduated from the Dakota School of Banking (DSB), a banking education program sponsored by the North Dakota Bankers Association (NDBA). Celebrating its 51st year in 2026, the school welcomed 68 banking professionals from across the region for intensive training at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, North Dakota.

“The Dakota School of Banking provides bankers with practical knowledge and leadership skills that help them grow professionally and better serve their institutions and communities,” said Dorothy Lick, NDBA senior vice president of education. “Graduates leave the program with a stronger understanding of banking operations, enhanced decision-making abilities, and a valuable network of industry peers.”

The Dakota School of Banking is a two-year program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning. During the first year, participants gain a comprehensive overview of the banking industry and the departments that support a successful financial institution. The second-year curriculum builds on that foundation through advanced coursework and a computerized bank management simulation designed to strengthen strategic thinking and management skills.

“Graduating from the Dakota School of Banking was an incredibly rewarding experience,” said Finck. “The program provided valuable insight into all areas of banking while giving me the opportunity to connect with professionals from across the industry. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned in my role at Union State Bank.”

The school’s faculty includes experienced bankers, attorneys, accountants, and financial industry consultants. Through a combination of lectures, group activities, case studies, simulations, and testing, participants gain practical skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace.
